Those of you who read my blog, who used to work with me will have fond memories of me berating you over poor spelling, lack of punctuation and bad grammar.
I had the uncanny knack of being able to look at a document and be able to spot these mistakes by just glancing at the document, even before I started picking holes in the actual content of the text.
Many hours of my time were spent explaining to staff that one sentence does not make a letter, and that the occasional full-stop or comma, enables the reader to actually breath when reading a document.
I always felt that getting these things right reflected on the staff and company, and the professional image we were trying to protray.
For my own part, I'd always think my letters and documents were perfect, although in truth they might not quite have achieved that level, but they were pretty damn close.
So imagine my dismay this morning, when I glanced at yesterdays blog and spotted a load of spelling mistakes. On closer inspection, there are punctuation errors and where my grammar has disappeared to I'll never know.
One of my problems is as I type - slowly, with one finger, I get ahead of myself and then miss out words to catch up with where my brain is. When I read the document back, I tend to read what I wanted to put rather than what's on the paper.
I am mortified!!
I could make all sorts of excuses about brain fog from my medication, or the lack of an active mind no longer being at work, but they're just excuses. Its just down to sloppyness on my part for which I am very sorry, and embarrassed.
I will try to do better from here on but feel free to point out these errors if you see them in future. You know I would.
If I was paying for this and not just getting pleasure from reading it maybe I would notice.....
ReplyDeleteI think we can guess the effort you put into it Dave, so no worries. xx
I realise that its not that bigger deal but it annoys me no end that things like this slip. GGGRRRRR!
ReplyDeleteI am the same, I actually delete posts and re post so I can correct. I wish they would extend the edit facility from the comments to posts.
ReplyDeleteI agree tealady. So aggravating!
DeleteActually you can now post a comment on FB and then go bacxk and edit it and correct mistakes. Here you just have to show your ingnorance - which I do frequently.
